Mo Abusaft was the executive director of Spartanburg Juneteenth Inc from May 2016 - August 2018. He took over leadership of the festival from community activists Mary Deku and Benjamin Wright. He was responsible for incorporating Spartanburg Juneteenth Inc., as a South Carolina nonprofit, and under his leadership the Spartanburg Juneteenth Celebration became Spartanburg's only festival celebrating African-American culture with an annual budget over $30,000.
